| During the past two years or so our
small but happy group have been rather busy. We have been able to;
· Highlight the dangers of
dog mess in the park, one of
the greatest annoyances of visitors, encouraging the council to install
dog mess bins and reducing the amount of dog mess found around the park.
· Hold regular
'litterpick' events
helping the rangers to present a pleasant and safe place for the public to
visit. · Establish a firm link with the local community police in an
attempt to improve security for visitors to the park.
· Raised over a thousand pounds to enable us to fund
future improvements in the park.
· By our very existence, helped to secure 'Green
Flag' status for the park.
· We were instrumental in the planting of a
wildflower meadow in the park bringing some natural colour to the meadow.
· Re-cycled over 250 Christmas
trees-collected from local people-reducing the risk of trees being dumped
in the area and using the trees to refurbish the Bridle path in the park.
· Established two annual community
events, a Christmas carol concert and a summer-bring your own
food-barbecue ensuring plenty of local fun for all the family.
· Hosted a couple of illustrated
talks outlining the history and wildlife of the park.
In the future we hope to encourage further
improvements both to the park and to the experience of visiting the park.
